Obama Versus McCain Round Three
October 15th, 2008 — -A summation by way of Hollywood analogy:

- Jimmy Stewart versus Moe Howard.
An angry, mean-spirited, vindictive little man, practicing one-upsmanship, losing poise, temper and control, making faces and shooting crazed, bug-eyed, murderous looks toward a…
Young, handsome, poised, slightly stuttering, sincere, calm, responsive, respectful, youthful but eloquent 40-ish man.
Policies? Issues? Details? Who knows - they’re each facing the same stew, the same mess, the same den of sycophants, thieves, and monsters who’ve been running, ruining, and skipping around nude, covered in molasses, in the stained and soiled halls of our breaking economic/political system.

- Monsters! Zombies! Eaters of Flesh!
McCain will win points with the 20 to 30 percent of the population that will not have Obama in office, under any circumstance.
“No, no, no! No. No! No, his skin color doesn’t have anything to do with it! No! It’s just that he’s a radical terrorist who will, on his first day in office, barricade himself in the Oval Office, and begin to make and plant bombs out of paper mache’ and cap-gun flints, all over the White House lawn. On Easter Sunday!!! THAT’S WHY! That’s why he’s unqualified. Of course! Of course!! OF COURSE!!!”
- from a pamphlet called “No, it’s not because he’s Black - Answers for Young Neo-Cons.”(tm)
But he’s got some good ideas - charter schools, getting rid of bad teachers, giving parents and students a vote and a choice in their education. He’s got a more nuanced position on the blood-and-thorns American issue on the legality of medical abortions, (an issue as unresolvable as Israel/Palestine).
McCain loses on his chattering, venomous arrogance in deriding, undermining, interrupting and smirking, grinning madly, or clenching his head at his opponent.
Obama will win points with thoughtful, anxious, concerned, consciously fair-minded citizens who want a country that doesn’t look like it’s going to suicide itself on predictably dangerous foreign wars (wars based, contrary to their advertising blitzkriegs, in Realpolitik, more than liberation theology), and the open theft of the U.S. economy by the Congress, to buy out the unregulated, lopsided, top-heavy loans given to too many people, (who perhaps should have their variable-rate loans renegotiated, instead of abandoned).
So, round three, I think, widely, to Barry Obama, who fought a better fight than he has thus far. McCain, I think, is still an interesting guy. Whoever gets the most contested (and least desirable) job in the…(oh, I hope it remains), a free world…
Here’s to the ‘working across the aisle’ promised so vigorously by McCain, and his opponents. I surely hope these a**holes have a memory for more than their own hurt feelings.
